Hijab Magnets vs Pins: Which Holds Better (and Won't Damage Your Hijab)?

Hijab pins have been the go-to for years, but hijab magnets are quickly becoming a favourite. So which should you use? The honest answer: it depends on your fabric and your day.

Hijab pins: precise and versatile

Pins let you secure your hijab exactly where you want, which is ideal for pleats, layered styles and keeping an under-scarf in place.

  • Pros: very precise hold, affordable, decorative options like crystal pins add a finishing touch.
  • Cons: can leave small holes or pulls in delicate fabrics like georgette if used in the same spot repeatedly.

Shop hijab pins and clips: matte, crystal and curved styles.

Hijab magnets: no holes, no snags

A hijab magnet has two parts that sit on either side of the fabric and hold it together with a magnetic grip. There's no pin going through your hijab at all.

  • Pros: no holes or snags, quick to put on and adjust, comfortable with no sharp points.
  • Cons: less precise for very detailed pleating, and very thick layers may weaken the grip.

Shop hijab magnets in round, square and pentagon shapes.

Which should you choose?

Situation Best choice
Delicate georgette or chiffon Magnets
Detailed pleats and layered styles Pins
Quick everyday styling Magnets
Securing an under-scarf or cap Pins or clips
Occasions and a bit of sparkle Crystal pins

Our tip: keep both

Use a magnet at the chin or shoulder for the main hold, and one or two pins where you need precision. Pair them with a soft hijab tie cap underneath so nothing slips.

Safety note: keep magnets away from small children, and if you use a pacemaker or other medical device, check with your doctor before wearing magnets near the chest.
